OHHS Home to Home Students Attend Leadership Summit On Monday, October 21, several Ottawa Hills High School students attended the Global Salesian Leadership Summit at the Glass City Center in downtown Toledo. They joined peers from Perrysburg, Notre Dame Academy, St. Ursula, Central Catholic, and St. Francis. The keynote address was delivered by Toledo native and successful entrepreneur Tom Seeman, author of Animals I Want to See, a memoir about growing up in a family of fourteen on welfare and food stamps. Father Geoff Rose described the book as a powerful “rags to riches” story that explores themes of identity, friendship, family, religion, and determination. Students also participated in a variety of breakout sessions led by Toledo-area professionals, including Aly Sterling, Ambrea Mikolajczyk, Mike Bell, Hannah Best, Clint Longenecker, Todd Mitchell, Kevin Mullan, Fr. Joseph Krupp, Bill Geha, and Gene Gobolys. They received valuable insights on developing effective leadership skills, fostering positive relationships, maintaining a strong moral compass, and embracing risk-taking and learning from mistakes. A special thank you to Father Geoff Rose for inviting us to this event, and to Erica Silk and Nikki Tolliver for chaperoning and facilitating our participation in the summit. Stay tuned for more exciting news from Home to Home, a collaboration between students and staff of Scott High School and Ottawa Hills High School. Many thanks to the Kadens Family Leadership Series for making this partnership possible. |
