Dear Ottawa Hills Families and Staff,
We are pleased to announce that Andy Evans has been selected as the next principal of Ottawa Hills Elementary School, following unanimous approval by the Board of Education at their retreat this morning. While his official starting date is August 1, Mr. Evans will work alongside current Elementary Principal Rose Gaiffe this summer to ensure a smooth transition.
This exciting addition to our district comes following a comprehensive search conducted by a hiring committee that included members of the district leadership team, elementary teachers and staff, and elementary parents. The top two candidates each participated in on-site visits during the school day to interact with students and staff. We are confident that Mr. Evans brings the experience and commitment to excellence that our elementary school families deserve and expect.
Mr. Evans comes to Ottawa Hills from the Springfield Local School District in Holland, Ohio, where he has served as principal of Holland Elementary/Holland Intermediate School since 2021. In that role, he has provided instructional and operational leadership for an intermediate building serving approximately 500 students and 60 certified and classified staff. Prior to that, he served as a social-emotional learning coach and an elementary classroom teacher.
Mr. Evans holds a Master of Arts degree in Educational Leadership from Concordia University Chicago and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bowling Green State University. He is a licensed Ohio principal and holds certifications in early childhood education and reading.
Please join us in giving Mr. Evans a big Green Bear welcome to Ottawa Hills Elementary School!
Dr. Adam Fineske
