6:30pm High School Library

The next Service Learning In Kenya (SLIK) program is taking place this June and as many OHHS students have experienced in the past, this is a unique opportunity for your rising junior or senior student to spend part of their summer volunteering as teachers in a primary school in rural Kenya. The trip also includes a hike on Mt. Kenya and a visit to one of Kenya’s famous game reserves.  Fred Roberts, SLIK’s director and OHHS grad of ‘79, will be giving a presentation about SLIK on February 20 in the library at 6:30 PM.  You can also learn more about SLIK at the website.  Fred may be reached at frob5350@gmail.com with any questions.

ACT-Grade 11

Tuesday, February 27

All juniors are taking the ACT the morning of Tuesday, February 27. This is a state-funded opportunity for our students to take the test and have their scores sent to the colleges or universities of their choice. Attendance on that day is very important and students should anticipate a long morning with a delayed lunch hour. Good luck to our juniors!

Health Students Learn to See Connections Through Service Learning

Stacy Richard’s health classes participated in a community service project with Sufficient Grace Ministries, a local nonprofit that works to provide comfort for families who experience grief due to the loss of a child.  In addition to this project, Mrs. Richard’s classes have worked at Food for Thought helping with inventory and stocking.  Mrs. Richards says, “she hopes her students gain a deeper understanding of community health and also learn ways to make a positive impact by giving back.”
