| Greetings, Ottawa Hills Elementary Families, I am excited to join you for the start of the 2024-2025 school year as your interim elementary principal, temporarily filling in for Dr. Bauer. I'd like to share my background and experience to help you feel comfortable as I begin working with you and your children. I have over 45 years of experience in education, including roles as a special education teacher, junior high counselor, junior high school principal, and district Director of Special Education, all with Sylvania Schools. Since retiring in 2021, I have substituted for administrators and counselors in Sylvania, mostly at the elementary level. Over the past three years, I have also substituted for Dr. Bauer and enjoyed working with the staff, students, and parent volunteers in your elementary building. Last school year, I began the year as a substitute principal, opening one of Sylvania’s elementary buildings, which gives me the experience needed to do the same in Ottawa Hills this year. I live in Sylvania with my husband and have four grown children and three beautiful grandchildren. I look forward to being your interim principal starting Monday, August 5th, and building positive relationships with the staff, families, and students as we enter this new school year together. I look forward to meeting all of you soon. Go Green Bears! Rose Gaiffe Interim Elementary Principal rgaiffe@ohschools.org |

NEW morning line up procedure From safety patrol advisor, Mr. Wells: To be as efficient and safe as possible we are tweaking line up procedures at the start of the school day. Instead of students lining up by grade level outside, they will now enter the building through the Indian Rd. doors (same as last year) and line up inside the old gym every day this year. This is the same line up procedure used last year during inclement weather and will now be used every day. 7:50 a.m.: Indian Rd. doors will open for STUDENTS ONLY to enter and line up inside the old gym based on grade level. 8:00 a.m.: Students dismissed from the old gym to their classrooms. 8:10 a.m.: The Indian Rd. doors will close. Any student arriving to school after this time must enter through the main office doors. Any parent/guardian who wishes to wait with their child prior to the 8 a.m. start of school may do so, but only outside. |
