The Art of Marathon Returns Last year dozens of elementary Green Bears participated in the free Kids Run as part of the Art of the Marathon partnership. Students created art in Mrs. Bodziak and Mrs. Danzeisen's art classes inspired by fitness (pictured). The artwork will be displayed at the University of Toledo during the Mercy Health Glass City Marathon Expo weekend. Each student who created a piece of art is eligible to participate for free in the Kids Run (ages 2 to 12) that is part of the Glass City Marathon weekend. Kids Races will be held at the University of Toledo campus on Saturday, April 27, 2024, starting at 11 a.m. More information here. A reminder that the race runs through the Village of Ottawa Hills the morning of April 28, and road closures will be in effect. See the course map here |
| Strategic staffing: District evaluating vacant positions The district held off until after the March 19 levy vote to post any vacant positions caused by retirements and resignations. With the passage of the levy, district leadership has assessed each open position, taking into consideration student and class needs, and if savings can be gained through attrition. The positions the district will be seeking to fill have been posted, and interested candidates can view them here. District leadership is committed to continuing the mindset shift of carefully evaluating expenses to ensure we make the best use of our budget. |
| Spring state testing update On Wednesday, April 10, the State experienced some technical difficulties with the State Testing online platform. Tests that were scheduled on that day were rescheduled. Please note the revised schedule here. These state-required tests for grades 3-11 provide teachers and the district valuable data that is used to inform our curriculum and instruction. At the high school level, the tests also afford students the opportunity to meet graduation requirements. Student attendance is very important during this testing period. |
