State Testing Our Green Bears in grades 3-11 are ready to show what they know! State testing begins soon, and these assessments give our teachers valuable insights to strengthen curriculum and instruction. High school students will also have opportunities to meet graduation requirements through these tests. The Jr./Sr. High School testing will begin Monday, April 13. Attendance is important during testing windows, and we want every student to shine after all the hard work they've put in this year. If your child needs to miss a test day, we'll work with you to schedule makeup testing. See the letter regarding state testing from Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction Dr. Miller, with the schedule for all tests here. |

Building Dreams: Ottawa Hills Students Give Back On Saturday April 4, more than three dozen dedicated student volunteers from grades 7-12 partnered with the non-profit organization Let’s Build Beds to ensure that children in the Toledo area have a safe and comfortable place to sleep. By the end of the day, these students had successfully constructed over 30 beds from scratch and donated more than $5,000 to Let’s Build Beds. This event was a beautiful display of leadership and service. Much gratitude goes to senior Ariana O’Neill and the Toledo Smiles Project for their vision in bringing this initiative to Ottawa Hills. Mayor Marc Thompson also joined in, rolling up his sleeves alongside the students to help with the construction. The work done this weekend contributes to a much larger goal. Let’s Build Beds is on a mission to build more than 2,000 beds this year to address this serious issue in the region. Seeing students take ownership of this goal serves as a reminder that the Green Bear spirit extends far beyond the village limits. Thanks to Let’s Build Beds, Toledo Smiles Project, and the Ottawa Schools Foundation for a meaningful day of making a difference and service to our community. Thank you to everyone who made this Saturday a success. A real difference was made in the lives of 30 children who will sleep better tonight because of this hard work. To learn more about how to help provide beds for children in need, visit the Let's Build Beds website. The amazing work of the Toledo Smiles Project can also be followed on Instagram at Toledo.Smile.project. |

 | Successful Week at the STEAM Café Shout out to the STEAM cafe crew, Jessica Loudermilk, Randall Johnson, Natalie Guenther, and the Foundry Advisory Board for an incredibly successful week. The energy, enthusiasm, and positivity from this amazing group adds an awesome dynamic to the Foundry. Last week the STEAM café had a soft re-opening to provide a service to students and staff. The café provides several drink and food options and is open from 7-8 a.m. Monday through Friday. Additionally, being part of the café crew provides real world experiences to learn about the various aspects of running a small business and allows students to earn community service hours. The menu for the café can be viewed on the STEAM café Instagram at OHSTEAMcafe. Stop by for a coffee, tea, smoothie, bagel, yogurt parfait, or this month’s special Green Bear Mocha! |

Ottawa Hills Girls Cross Country Team Receives State Championship Rings The Ottawa Hills girls cross country team gathered in coach Jeremy Nixon’s classroom last week for a special celebration and photo op to receive their state championship rings. The ceremony honored a historic, undefeated season that culminated in the team capturing the OHSAA Division IV State Championship in Columbus last fall. As you may recall, Natalie Nixon led the way with an outstanding 5th-place finish, supported by strong performances from Emily Chen, Molly Mullan, Freya Klaas, Mercy Alamina, Piper Padgett, and Evelyn Sandretto. These rings serve as a lasting symbol of the first time the girls' program has reached the summit of OHSAA cross country. |
