Signing Day for senior athletes

Congratulations to our senior scholar athletes who will go on to compete at the collegiate level next year. The signing day event was sponsored and organized by OHHS Athletics and the OH Boosters. Special thanks to Rick Kaifas, Greg Neuendorf, Kim Grimm, and Colleen Gnepper. Congratulations to Will Swigart (golf), Brandon Lingo (Soccer), Sebastian Stevens (baseball), Luke Gnepper (football), Jack Perozek (football), Jack Vicente (football), Cat Rhegness (tennis), Riley Nixon (XC/track and field), JoAnna Kelley (LAX, XC/track and field).

Congratulations: Kids of Character!

Each quarter elementary students are nominated by teachers and staff for representing PAWS traits (being positive, accountable, well-mannered and with self-control). Congratulations to these outstanding Green Bears for being named this quarter's Kids of Character!

Brown Bag Chorus "wows" with Broadway

This week the elementary Brown Bag Chorus, led by Mrs. Manchur and accompanied on piano by Mr. Manchur, sang a variety of Broadway songs at the spring concert. These 5th and 6th grade students practice twice a week during their lunch periods and gave a wonderful performance. See the program here

Fiscal year spending down 11%

As of April 30, 2024, OHLS district has been able to reduce our fiscal year general fund/operating expenditures by $1.75 million compared to our 2022-2023 fiscal year. This is equivalent to an 11% reduction. More information on this will be presented at the next Board of Education meeting on May 15, at 4:30 p.m. in The Village Green conference room. The spring 5-year forecast for 2024 will also be presented by Treasurer/CFO Mr. Siloy.

Spring Scholastic Book Fair

It is one of the most cherished memories from elementary school: visiting the Scholastic Book Fair. Elementary classes will visit the book fair inside The Wondry May 10-17. See when your students' classroom will be visiting the book fair (and consider volunteering) here. E-Wallets for students can be set up here.

OHSPA Carnival

The annual OHSPA Spring Carnival is Friday, May 17 (rain date Monday, May 20). This annual event is a true "FUN"draiser and includes a virtual auction. You can see featured auction items on the OHSPA Instagram page here

Junior High Track Teams Crowned TAAC Champs

The boys' and girls' junior high track and field teams once again took home the title of TAAC Champions following a meet last week at Northwood. Congratulations to these athletes, and coaches Emily Nixon, Jeremy Nixon, and Tyler Fairchild!

After Prom Community Walk Through Saturday at 9 p.m.

The After Prom Community Walk Through tradition will continue with parents and community members invited to get a sneak peek of After Prom as the committee finalizes set up on Saturday, May 11. The community walk through will take place at 9 pm. After Prom for students begins at 11 p.m.

After Prom provides junior and senior students and their guests with a way to celebrate the night in a safe, secure, and substance-free atmosphere after the formal prom event is over. Volunteer here

The "very hungry kindergarteners"

The annual Kindergarten Kaleidoscope took place this week. The audience saw the progression, through song, of very hungry kindergarteners transforming into butterflies ready for 1st grade.

Join us as a volunteer tutor in The Foundry!

The Foundry is on the lookout for dedicated community volunteers to support our students in various subjects including pre-algebra, algebra I, geometry, and chemistry. During the 2024-2025 school year we will have the need for volunteer tutors from 8-10 a.m. and 1-4 p.m. at the junior/senior high school. Email Director of The Foundry, Darrin Broadway, for more information.

The Foundry is also looking for community partners to share their expertise for the Big Futures career and college planning programming. If you would like to help our students explore career opportunities in: education, health care, real estate, STEM, business, arts, environment, or law, please email Darrin Broadway.

Summer break starts in less than 1 month. The Office of Village Life has many options for camps to keep your Green Bears busy this summer. For a full list of classes and to register click here

OHMTA plans to provide a livestream of the upcoming JHHS spring music and choir concerts. You can view the livestream, and watch recordings of other performances on the OHMTA YouTube channel here

Late Start Reminder

A reminder that Monday, May 20 is the last of four planned late start days. All students will begin school at 10 a.m. This late start allows teachers time for professional development meetings.
