| End of Third Quarter We are quickly approaching the end of third quarter, Friday, March 15. Please be sure that you and your student are checking PowerSchool for updated grades, as well as fees and fines. Grades will be finalized after Spring Break by March 28. Please encourage students to take advantage of resources in the Foundry to finish third quarter strong.

| Spring Sports Photos & Senior Banners Spring sports photos will take place next Tuesday, March 12 after school. All athletes should meet in the main gym at 3:15pm. Once pictures have been taken, you will have the opportunity to order about a week later. You must pay for senior banners at the time of photos. Impulse Studios will not print banners without payment. Please have your athlete stop in the athletic office to get a form and send them to the photos with the form and a check for $45 to Impulse Studios. (if your student forgets to get the form, no big deal. Just be sure to send them with payment on the day of pictures). |
| Lourdes University Lacrosse Over the next few months, Ottawa Hills will be hosting several Lourdes University Men's Lacrosse games beginning tomorrow, March 11. These games will be open to the public and free of charge. Feel free to enjoy a game! |

OH MUN Shines at MAMUN: Delegates Excel in Diplomatic Debates and Honors From Wednesday, March 6th to Saturday, March 9th, twelve Ottawa Hills High School students joined over 400 students from over 20 high schools to participate in the Mid-American Model United Nations simulation in Kalamazoo, MI. Countries and their delegates were the Russia Federation represented by Seniors Elizabeth Alamina & Zoe Cheema, Junior Ashley Wang, Sophomores Jasper Allred & Quinton Smith; the Federal Republic of Germany represented by Sophomores Anushka Agarwal, Meral Humaida, Freya Klaas, & Sahil Parikh; and the Republic of Tunisia represented by Sophomores Hannah Chow & Elsa Klaas Topics debated during the conference included the Advancement of Women, Prevention of an arms race in outer space, The Situation in the Middle East, including the Palestine Question, The role of diamonds in fueling conflicts, Global Heath and foreign policy, & Measures to eliminate international terrorism. Receiving Second Honors for her work in the Legal committee was Zoe Cheema. Receiving Second Honors for her work on the Security Council was Ashley Wang. Zoe and Ashley were also invited to the Secretary General’s Honors Crisis Simulation. Finally, the entire Russian delegation received Highest Honors for a General Assembly Delegation. All the OH MUN Club delegates received high marks for their preparation and participation. The Model United Nations Club advisor is social studies teacher Tom McCarthy. The OH MUN club would like to thank OHSPA for their continuing support. |

Three-Peat Triumph: OHHS Chess Team Secures Greater Toledo Area Championship For the third year in a row, the Ottawa Hills High School chess team clinched the championship in the Greater Toledo Area High School Chess League finishing undefeated with a 10-0 record. Team members include Michael Lin, Michael Kelley, Ryann Bhuiyan, Rohan Padhye, Xuan Huang, Aman Hasan, and Kunjal Raskar. Congratulations to the team and advisor Tim Adkins. |

JH and HS Bands Showcase Talent in Spectacular Concert With the theme of “bravery,” Michael Leeds and the instrumental music program presented a wonderful concert on Sunday evening featuring performances from the concert and symphonic bands. The JH Concert band started the concert Pearson’s Rudimental Regiment followed by a series of student led ensembles. The high school symphonic performed Hendry Filmore’s Men of Ohio, Brian Balmage’s “Within the Castle Walls”, and Powell’s “How to Train Your Dragon.” The percussion section ended the evening with “Loyal,” from the international known EDM band Odesza. Thanks to the Ottawa Hills Music Theater Association for their ongoing support of our music programs. Congratulations to Michael Leeds and to all the band students! Elements in Song: Ottawa Hills Spring Choir Concert Celebration On Sunday, March 10, Vocal Music Director Hayley Hoss assembled the junior and senior high school choirs for the annual spring concert centered around the theme “Elemental.” Ms. Hoss used the ancient mystical elements of earth, air, fire, and water to frame the performance of the four choirs. The concert included selected readings of poetry from authors Rumi, Wordsworth, and several others. More than thirty members of the Junior High Choir sang “Over My Head” and “May Joyful Music Fill the Air.” The Junior Chorale joined the Junior High Choir for Greg Clipin’s “Lightning!,” “Elijah Rock,” and “Heart of Stone” from the musical SIX. The high school Concert Choir sang “Fire, Fire, My Heart,” “Closer to the Flame,” and Roger Emerson’s “Glowing.” The Choraliers closed the evening with “Famine Song,” “Drop, Drop Slow Tears,” Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now,” and Carly Simon’s “Let the River Run.” Congratulations to Hayley Hoss, accompanist Bob Duris, violinist Sam Abbott, percussionists Evan Yang and Ren Berryman, and our vocalists. Special thanks to Eric Swisher, Maddox Smith, Nash Malczewski, Claire Hawkins for help with lights, sound, and auditorium set-up. Copa de fútbol Congratulations to the winners of the Copa de fútbol. This annual tournament is sponsored by the Spanish Club and advisors Señora Mendez and Señor Hood. Copa de fútbol has been a long-standing tradition at Ottawa Hills that functions as a vehicle to teach about the language and culture of the Spanish-speaking world. |

Annie Bahar to Present at 62nd National Junior Science and Humanities Symposium Annie Bahar, 11th grader from Jeremy Nixon’s HR Scientific Research class, has been selected to do a poster presentation at the National Junior Science and Humanities Symposium. The 62nd National JSHS will take place in Albuquerque, New Mexico May 1st-4th. Annie presented at the Ohio Regional Symposium she attended last Friday at Capital University. The 62nd National JSHS will bring together 245 high school students who qualified for attendancethrough competitions held at JSHS regional symposia across the U.S., Puerto Rico, and DoDDependent Schools in Europe and the Pacific. Ranking military and DoD civilians attend as judges,speakers, and other volunteers at the National JSHS guests to encourage the future generation ofscientists and engineers and to celebrate student achievement in science, technology, engineering, andmathematics (STEM). Congratulations to Annie.
