Tapping toes at top o' the morning

In what is now becoming an annual tradition, elementary students were treated to Irish dancing and music in the lead up to St. Patrick's Day. Green Bear parent, Dr. Jason Huntley, performed Irish music on his fiddle accompanied by Emily Bryant on the guitar. 5th grader, Maggie Knope, and members from Molly's Irish Dancers performed alongside Mrs. Kulka. Students were lucky to see all their teachers try their toe-tapping at Irish dancing.

The Winter/Spring 2024 issue of Around These Hills magazine has been delivered to villagers this week with a feature story on the financial future of the district. This magazine is currently published twice per year in partnership with the Ottawa Hills Schools Foundation and serves as a very important communication piece between the district and our larger Green Bear community. Tickets are on sale now for the spring musical, Chicago. You can read the synopsis and view the cast list on the Ottawa Hills Music and Theatre website here. Show-times are:

Friday, April 12 at 7 p.m.
Saturday, April 13 at 7 p.m.
Sunday, April 14 at 2 p.m.

Polls open at JHHS Tuesday
A reminder that Ohio's Election Day is on Tuesday, March 19. The multipurpose room in the junior/senior high school (2532 Evergreen Road) will have polls open 6:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. A reminder that the Board of Education has directed the Treasurer's office to place a 12.9 mill operating levy on the March 19, 2024, ballot. This levy, if approved, will generate $2.3 million in operating funds.

Plan Ahead: Solar Eclipse Early Release
The Board of Education has added an early release for all students on Monday, April 8 at 1 p.m. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources states, "A total solar eclipse is a rare and spectacular event. The last total solar eclipse visible in Ohio was in 1806, and the next will occur in 2099." Tips for viewing the event safely can be found here.

Acting Out! spring and summer registration now open

Imagination, discipline, teamwork, truthfulness, and trust will continue to drive the Acting Out! program. Leadership development will be a focus as well as public speaking. Interested students in grades 3-8 can bring the registration form, one per student, to the first day of session. More information on the OHMTA here
