OHLS and Office of Village Life partner with Stanford, MIT for AI Scholars program

We are excited to host Inspirit AI for an on-campus AI project-building program this summer 2025. The program is a fantastic opportunity to get exposed to applied AI research and undertake profile-building social impact projects with Stanford, MIT, and Ivy League graduate students and industry professionals.

Parent Meeting (virtual):

We will be holding an information session on Zoom on April 9, 2025 at 6.30pm ET for families to learn more. The session will be led by Varsha Sandadi, an MIT alumna and AI researcher. Please find the link to sign up for the information session here.

In the summer intensive, students from rising 6th-12th grades will learn the fundamental concepts of AI and gain a deeper understanding of how AI is used to build ChatGPT and generative AI, fight the COVID-19 pandemic, power self-driving cars, and more. Students will learn to program AI using Python, discuss ethics and bias within AI, and complete a group project applying AI to a discipline like healthcare, astronomy, finance, among others. No prior computer science experience is required to participate, and separate middle and high school sections will be offered.

If you may be interested in participating in this unique opportunity, please fill out this short interest form and peruse the program brochure for more information about curriculum, schedule, projects, teaching team, and more!

Student Interest Meeting:
There will be an interst meeting for students during lunch this Friday, April 11 in Mrs. Dowd's room.

State Testing

The district will soon be administering state-required tests to grades 3 through 11. Student attendance is very important during this testing period (April 2-29). The Jr./Sr. High School testing will begin Monday, April 14.

Bravo to the Cast and Crew of Hadestown!
A standing ovation to the extraordinary cast and crew of Hadestown! The production was a stunning blend of energy, emotion, humor, and heart. More than 50 students brought the story to life through powerful performances, captivating music, and immersive stagecraft.

Kudos to Director Grace Wipfli, Music Director Hayley Hoss, Producer Darrin Broadway, and Choreographer Havin Hoobler for their vision, dedication, and guidance. Under their leadership, students gained invaluable experience in performance, collaboration, and creative expression.

We also extend our deepest appreciation to Set Designer Daniel Tobias, and Technical Director Ace Medina. A special shout-out goes to Costume Designers and Creative Visionaries Erica Kelm and Maria Jun for their stunning work in capturing the spirit of the show.

Thank you to Lighting Designer Claire Hawkins, Sound Designers Lowell Shreve and Eddie Phillips, Ticket Coordinator Joy Hajjar, and our incredible crew of parent volunteers. Your behind-the-scenes efforts made all the difference.

This production would not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors: Ottawa Hills Music Theater Association, Ottawa Hills Schools Foundation, BAZ Group, Effler Schmitt Co.,  Frankel Dentistry, Stonecut Bistro, Hannon’s Block, Venture,  Pro Pak Industries, Jamieson Audio/Video, and All Star Music.

A heartfelt thank-you to the OHMTA for their continued commitment to the arts and to the many parent and student volunteers whose hard work and passion helped bring Hadestown to our stage.  Bravo, Green Bears!
