I Make a Difference Breakfast Honors Teachers and Students On Thursday, May 2 Ottawa Hills teachers Tim Hood and Tony Torio and seniors Ali Sediqe and Savith Vjendara were honored at the annual I Make a Difference Breakfast sponsored by the Educational Service Center Lake Erie West and held at the Toledo Club. The two seniors were asked to select a teacher that had a profound impact on them during their time at Ottawa Hills. Ali chose teacher and quiz bowl advisor Tony Trio and Savith chose Spanish teacher Tim Hood. Ali shared, “Mr. Torio was always someone I could trust and rely on, being more than a teacher or coach, but a true mentor to me. I know myself, and every other person who has met Mr. Torio can speak endlessly about how great of a person he is, and how he has changed their lives for the better.” Savith felt similarly about Señor Hood, “Regardless of what was occurring, you greeted each class with a smile and made sure students like myself had the best learning experience… know that you have touched my life and the lives of so many students. You are a model for me of what I need to be. Pase lo que pase, voy a recordar el impacto que tuviste en mí.” In the Fall, Ali will attend Harvard where he will major in bioengineering and minoring in global health and policy. Savith will attend the University of Michigan and is planning to double-major in economics and mathematics. These teachers and students pursue excellence, help shape our positive school climate, push the boundaries of our curriculum, challenge and inspire staff and students, and celebrate the success of others. Congratulations, Tony Torio, Señor Hood, Savith, and Ali! |
