Beginning February 1, we will exclusively be using Final Forms for athletic physicals. Paper copies will no longer be accepted. All parents/guardians will receive an email from Final Forms to set up an account on February 1.
What if my student's athletic physical is up to date? If your student athlete has an athletic physical that is up to date, it would be wise to set up your account but no need to upload the physical copy of the paperwork, we have those on file in the office. After February 1, when your athlete's physical expires, you will transition fully to Final Forms.
What if my student's athletic physical has expired or is about to expire? Please exclusively use Final Forms. Almost all of the documents are now electronic and only require an electronic signature, it is very user friendly. You will only need to upload the documents that the physician signs. Once you, as the parent/guardian, have completed the forms, Final Forms will automatically send an email to the athlete for their electronic signatures on the required documents.
I have completed everything and my account says it needs to be reviewed? No need to take any action on that. The athletic trainer will review each account, once completed, the status will automatically change.
Parents and athletes who have set this up reported that it took them about 15 minutes total. |
| ACT-Grade 11Tuesday, February 27
All juniors are taking the ACT the morning of Tuesday, February 27. This is a state-funded opportunity for our students to take the test and have their scores sent to the colleges or universities of their choice. Attendance on that day is very important and students should anticipate a long morning with a delayed lunch hour. Good luck to our juniors! |
| Students Hone Argumentative Writing Skills As a lighthearted and fun way to develop their thinking and writing skills, Karen Fischer’s sophomore English classes considered whether Groundhog Day was a tradition worth continuing. Students developed plausible arguments on both sides of the issue, considered which might be most persuasive, and developed responses to counter arguments and questions. As for this year, Punxsutawney Phil predicted an early spring. This was the 138th time in US history the furry woodchuck emerged from his tree stump and weighed in on the weather. For now, the tradition continues. |

Captivated by the Brilliance of Caravaggio On Sunday, OHHS students Alice Denny, Olga Isailovic, Zoe McCarthy, and Shahd Mashali visited the Toledo Museum of Art to see “The Brilliance of Caravaggio: Four Paintings in Focus.” All four students are currently enrolled in classes taught by art teachers Kristin Johnson and Caitlin Shawaker. The exhibit features four paintings by Caravaggio and four other paintings in the TMA’s collection by artists who were inspired by him. According to the website, “The exhibition marks the first time in more than a decade that four paintings by this renowned Italian artist have been on view together in the United States and only the second showing ever of Caravaggio’s work at the Toledo Museum of Art. A single composition by the artist was shown at the Museum in 1951.” Ottawa Hills resident and curator emeritus Larry Nichols organized this exhibit. Click here for more information . |

French Students celebrate la Chandeleur and Mamadou Sy Returns for a Visit On Friday, February 2, OH French students headed to the kitchen during lunch to make fresh crêpes to celebrate La Chandeleur. There are many theories as to the origin of this holiday, but for the French today, it is a day to enjoy crêpes with family and friends. Students were encouraged to make their own crêpes and to try tossing the crêpe in the air and catching it while holding a coin in the opposite hand to ensure a prosperous year. Madame Hanlon shared: “It was so fun to see the students from all levels of French cook together and enjoy delicious crêpes!” Thank you, John Lyndsay for sharing your room! Mamadou Sy, an exchange student from Senegal who attended OH in 2020, invited a French-speaking friend from UT to join him to speak to French 4 and 5 classes on Friday. Mamadou and Alyssia spoke of life in Senegal and France and shared many cultural differences with the classes. It was wonderful to see Mamadou again and so valuable to give the students an opportunity to speak with native French speakers. |
