Testing Day: Wednesay, October 9 Students in grades 9 through 11 will be participating in college readiness testing on Wednesday, October 9. Students in grade 9 will take the PSAT; students in grade 10 will take the PreACT; and students in grade 11 will take the PSAT/NSMQT. The results from these tests provide valuable information about our students and programming. They will take the entire morning. There will be alternative programming for grades 7, 8, and 12. All students, grades 7-12, will be released early on Wednesday, October 9. Most students will likely be done by 11:10am, but please be flexible. Once students are dismissed, they should return home and complete online assignments including school safety modules. Students are expected to stay off campus during the afternoon school hours once they are dismissed. |

The Fall Collage Concert features all of the performing groups at Ottawa Hills Junior/Senior High. Bands and choirs alike perform a seamless concert experience that goes from one group to the next, sampling sounds from the first quarter. Be sure to join us Sunday, October 20th for this event. Dr. Nichols encouraged attendees to "look, think, and discover" while visiting museums or simply walking the streets of Paris. The event was attended by several students, staff, and teachers. Challenge Crew teams up with Chicks for Charity to Raise Funds for Hope Toledo Recently, Challenge Crew members met with Deb Monogan and Mona Shousher from the local philanthropic organization Chicks for Charity. Ms. Monagan and Ms. Shousher are collaborating with youth from across Toledo to raise funds for Hope Toledo, a local charity whose mission is to support and ensure high-quality education—from preschool to postsecondary and trade school—for every young person in the city. This initiative aims to create generational economic change for the betterment of our families and community. Any funds raised through our local efforts will be matched by Ottawa Hills graduate Pete Kadens (’93). For more information about this project or Challenge Crew, please reach out to Director of Development Erica Silk, Principal Ben McMurray, or students Piper Downing, Zara Sediqe, or Anuska Arguwal. Dawa (Indonesia), Nicolas (Chile), and Sara (Bosnia) shared insights and cultural comparisons between the United States and their home countries. Students, teachers, and staff attending the event enjoyed a diverse array of food from around the world while listening to the presentations. 2024 Homecoming Weekend Many thanks to the entire faculty and staff for their help and cooperation with the week of Homecoming festivities. Thanks to advisor Liz Puskala and sophomore class officers Lowell Shreve, Maya Choksey, Sam Kapadia, and Ashleigh Speakman, Zahir Mahmood, and Mary Lathrop for organizing the assembly, dance, theme and court videos, voting, and the class floats. Thanks to parent volunteers Katie Dougherty, Cecily Denny, Luciane Penrod, Amy Barone, and Maara Fink for the amazing hallway homecoming decorations. Many thanks to Michael Leeds and the OHHS Marching Band for their participation in the parade and football game. The OHHS Choraliers joined the festivities with a special performance of the national anthem with the marching band on Friday before the game. Big shoutout to Meredith Douglas, Summer Vanni, and Becky Hauck, and the OHPD for organizing Friday’s Village Homecoming Parade. The weather and turnout made for a magical afternoon for the Village of Ottawa Hills. Congratulations to the members of the court: Caroline Durfee, Peyton Lorenzen, Molly Rybarczyk, Lena Bazzoli, and Lily Berenzweig. In case you missed it, Lily Berenzweig was crowned 2024 Homecoming Queen. Many thanks to our dance chaperones Liz Puskala, Officer Jade Nelson, Officer Justin Rodriguez, Tim Adkins, Gloria Kreischer-Gajewicz, and Chris Gajewicz. With recent graduates AJ George (OH ’23), playing on special teams for Columbia, and Luke Gnepper (OH ’24), a long snapper for Princeton, OHHS alumni, along with their families and friends, gathered to tailgate, attend the game, and enjoy a post-game celebration.
