| Online Safety We want to keep you informed about an important update regarding our school’s internet safety measures. Recently, we introduced the GoGuardian platform, a comprehensive solution designed to enhance web filtering, classroom management, and student safety. Here are the key points you need to know: - Why GoGuardian?
- While our existing platform, Securly, has served us well, it lacks certain features essential for our district’s needs.
- GoGuardian offers advanced capabilities that go beyond basic web filtering, including classroom management tools and student well-being features.
- What Does GoGuardian Aim to Achieve?
- Student Internet Use: GoGuardian ensures that students use their devices appropriately while browsing the internet.
- Classroom Focus: With GoGuardian Teacher, we can monitor and encourage on-task behavior during class.
- Deployment Progress:
- We have already deployed GoGuardian and GoGuardian Teacher.
- Our next step is to lock students down to using the Google Chrome browser exclusively. They must sign in with their OH school email account as their primary account.
- Instructions for these settings will be sent to students this week.
- Upcoming Features:
- Parental Controls: These controls allow you to manage your child’s online activity outside of school.
- For now, Securly remains active at home, giving you control over their browsing activity.
- Once GoGuardian is fully deployed, we will provide detailed instructions on managing your child’s browsing activity at home.
Thank you for your cooperation as we enhance online safety and classroom productivity. |

| Update Regarding JHHS Leadership Structure Change for 2024-2025 School Year In order to continue with our efforts to reduce costs and be fiscally responsible, as well as to continue to support our students in the best way possible, we have decided on a leadership structure change to begin at the start of the 2024-25 school year for the Junior/Senior High School. This structure, pending Board of Education approval on Wednesday, includes naming Jasa George the new assistant principal. Her major responsibilities will include assistance with PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Support), student discipline, staffing, school safety, teacher evaluations, and supervision of extracurricular activities. This takes us back to a similar administrative structure in place prior to the building of the Foundry in 2021. Darrin Broadway will take on a new non-administrative leadership role and will continue to direct the work in the Foundry but will also assume teaching responsibilities in the English department. With this structural change and the savings gained, Rebecca McLean (currently funded by grant dollars) will be able to remain in her position as lead tutor/tutor coordinator in the Foundry and assist with interventions during study halls and after school. The structure change was a collaborative effort of all involved and with the best interest of our students’ needs at the forefront. |
