Winter Choir Concert Wednesday, December 11 7:30pm OH's annual Winter Choir Concert will feature a diverse selection of seasonal music performed by four choirs of Ottawa Hills students from grades 7-12 in the auditorium. We hope to see you there supporting our young singers!

Exam Schedule Please see below schedule of first semester exams. All students will be dismissed at 2:00pm each day if they do not have any make up exams or other obligations to teachers. Teachers have the discretion of providing different learning options at the end of the semester (final exam, test, group project, individual project, etc.). Junior high semester exams will count up to 10 percent of the final semester grade. High School exams will count up to 20 percent of the final semester grade. For more information about exam practices and policies, please see the student handbook. |

A Night of Gratitude: Honoring Generosity at the OH Schools Foundation Event The Ottawa Hills Schools Foundation hosted its annual donor appreciation event last week at Inverness Country Club to honor the incredible generosity and unwavering support of its donors. Elementary vocal music instructor Kimberly Manchur and the Brown Bag Chorus captivated the audience with a heartfelt performance of Blackbird by The Beatles. Science teacher Liz Puskala expressed gratitude on behalf of the faculty for the classroom enhancement grants, which have positively impacted every grade level and subject area. Juniors Joe Davis and Piper Downing shared personal stories about how donor contributions have profoundly influenced their educational experiences. The event was skillfully emceed and organized by Erica Silk and Foundation President Judd Silverman. OHLS Board President Maara Fink spoke on behalf of the entire district, extending heartfelt thanks from the Board, faculty, staff, and students. A special thanks to all the generous donors and the Ottawa Hills Schools Foundation for their ongoing dedication to enriching our schools and community. |

Teen PEP Leaders Facilitate Vital Discussions on Wellness Topics This week, Teen PEP (Peers Educating Peers) members visited classrooms to engage students in meaningful conversations about mental health, bullying prevention, teen dating violence, and mandatory reporting. \Teen PEP is a student-led program that promotes wellness by addressing topics relevant to today’s youth. This year’s Teen PEP leaders include Hutch Carter, Emma Friedman, Jaiden Dubois, Jace Neuendorf, Avi Hanusz, Teddy Szyperski, Brody Smith, Olivia Wireman, Sam Skiver, Quinn Culler, Sloan Clausen, Sara Hamilton, Jasmine Hajjar, Maya Choksey, and Ashley Wang. Special thanks to Prevention Coordinator and Teen PEP advisor Stacy Richards for her guidance, as well as representatives from ProMedica, Molly Mines and Erin Hynes, for their support and expertise. Established in 1995, Teen PEP focuses on sexual violence prevention, teen dating violence, and bullying prevention. The program is based on the CDC-evaluated, evidence-based curriculum Expect Respect: A School-Based Program Promoting Safe and Healthy Relationships for Youth and incorporates elements of Safe Dates. Its goal is to train students as peer leaders to reduce the incidence of sexual violence in northwest Ohio. |

Choraliers at BGSU Falcon Choral Festival Last week, a few of our talented Choraliers experienced life as Falcons during the BGSU Falcon Choral Festival. Joining 160 students from across Ohio, they participated in a festival choir that performed an evening concert alongside the BGSU Collegiate Chorale. The day was packed with activities, including rehearsals with BGSU’s accomplished choir faculty, dining in the campus dining hall, observing collegiate choir rehearsals, and attending a faculty voice recital. Congratulations to Sam, Abby, and Nina for successfully completing the rigorous audition process and being accepted into this prestigious event! Special thanks to Instrumental Music Director Hayley Hoss for helping to arrange this amazing opportunity. OH Model UN Club Shines at CASC Conference in Lansing. Photos by Tom McCarthy From Thursday, December 5, through Saturday, December 7, the OH Model UN Club participated in the Canadian-American Security Council (CASC) Conference at the Lansing Conference Center in Lansing, Michigan. Ten OHHS students joined over 400 other high school students from across the Midwest and Canada, representing countries in the United Nations Security Council, European Union, Pacific Islands Forum, and NATO. The conference topics included Migration and Border Management, Gender Equality and Social Inclusion, NATO's Military Presence in Eastern Europe, and the Situation in Sudan and South Sudan. The OHHS delegation included Juniors Anushka Agarwal (Russian Federation), Meral Humaida (Slovenia), Sharon Lim (Germany), Sahil Parikh (United States), and Joan Seo (Portugal); Sophomore Rory Norris (Italy); and Freshmen Lily Denk (Germany), Pranathi Gundabolu (Papua New Guinea), Eylan Humaida (Mozambique), and Sungjoo Park (Cook Islands). During the awards ceremony, Anushka received Highest Honors for her contributions in the Security Council, and Sahil earned Second Honors in the same category. Meral submitted the club's best position papers at the conference. Social studies teacher and club advisor Tom McCarthy prepared the delegates, organized the trip, and accompanied the students.
