This message is to inform our community about the upcoming vacancy on the Board of Education and the process for filling that seat.
Election Day is Nov. 4, and the Board of Education will have three seats on the ballot. Two sitting board members are running unopposed, and one seat will remain vacant following the election.
Requirements for filling a vacant board seat:
- Be a registered voter residing within the boundaries of the Ottawa Hills Local school district.
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Meet all other legal requirements of school board service under Ohio Revised Code.
- Submit a letter of interest to the Treasurer/CFO, Mr. Tom Siloy.

Timeline:
- Letters of interest due: Nov. 14, 2025, at 12 noon
- Questionnaire: sent to individuals following receipt of their letter of interest
- Interview process: to take place early December
- Board to vote on appointment: at a Jan. 2026 board meeting
- Term length: Jan. 1, 2026-Dec. 31, 2027
